BEGINNING BEEKEEPERS CLASS - Saturday, February 27, 2021 (9:00 to 3:30)

The Beginning Beekeeping class is led by Washington County Extension Agent Phil Blevins. Topics include Honeybee Biology, Equipment Needed, Where and How to Get Bees, Locating the Apiary, Honeybee Pests and Diseases, Seasonal Management, Integrated Pest Management, Harvesting Honey, and Nectar Sources. Participants will be given a Beekeeping Basics booklet, a certificate of completion, and a one year membership in the Highlands Beekeepers Association. The cost of the class is $35 (or $20 for students with a valid ID) and is limited to 100 participants. The registration fee includes snacks. For local lunch or dinner choices, click here.

Topics covered in the class include Honeybee Biology, Equipment Needed, Where and How to Get Bees, Locating the Apiary, Hands-on Equipment Construction, Seasonal Management, Integrated Pest Management, Harvesting Honey, and Nectar Sources.
